The Sacred Heart schools in Uganda, although run on Catholic values, also practice Interfaith Harmony in all aspects. We share reflections from St. Charles Lwanga Kalungu Girls’ Training Centre and Sacred Heart Primary School Kyamusansala.
St. Charles Lwanga Kalungu Girls’ Training Centre
Background
St. Charles Lwanga Health Centre is a faith based health care unit situated in Kakamega county, Lugari constituency, Koromaiti village, Chekalini Ward. It is a 24 hour facility offering in and out-patient services within and without its locality. The Centre is recognized and registered under the Ministry of Health. It began in the year 1974 upon the request of Arch Bishop Njenga to respond to the health needs of Chekalini residents which included high infant/mother mortality rates, malaria, typhoid, diarrhoea, Hiv/ Aids stigma among others.
La réunion de la région africaine sur le thème, « Être Des Artisans d’Espérance dans notre Monde Béni et Brisé » a été très émouvante puisque nous avons réfléchi à la réalité de notre monde aujourd'hui en abordant les questions de la réalité du Covid, de la pauvreté, des migrants, du changement climatique, de la sécheresse et des inondations. L'équipe de JPIC International nous a invités à réfléchir profondément à notre appel à être des Artisans d’Espérance, en ce qui concerne notre propre spiritualité.
La reunión de la Región de África sobre "Ser artesanas de la esperanza en nuestro mundo bendecido y roto" fue muy enternecedora, ya que reflexionamos sobre la realidad de nuestro mundo de hoy tocando las áreas de la realidad de Covid, pobreza, migrantes, cambio climático, sequía e inundaciones. El equipo de JPIC Internacional nos invitó a reflexionar hondamente sobre nuestro llamado a ser Artesanas de la Esperanza, en relación con nuestra propia espiritualidad.
The African Region meeting on “Being Artisans of Hope in our Blessed and Broken World” was very moving as we reflected on the reality of our world today touching on the areas of the reality of Covid, poverty, migrants, climate change, drought, and floods. The JPIC International team invited us to deeply reflect on our call to be Artisans of Hope, in relation to our own spirituality.
Cette lecture de I Samuel 17, il y a quelques semaines, a vraiment touché mon cœur et m'a donné de l'espoir alors que les événements mondiaux me tentaient au désespoir. Je me suis rendu compte, comme une bénédiction, que cette histoire est une parabole de ce qu'il nous est demandé de vivre dans notre monde béni et brisé.
La lectura de I Samuel 17 de hace algunas semanas realmente tocó mi corazón y me dio esperanza cuando sentía que los eventos globales vividos, me estaban tentando a la desesperación. Me vino como una bendición cuando me di cuenta de que esta historia es una parábola de lo que se nos pide que vivamos en nuestro mundo bendecido y roto.
This reading from I Samuel 17 some weeks ago really touched my heart and gave me hope when global events were tempting me to despair. It came to me as a blessing when I realized that this story is a parable of what we are being asked to live in our blessed and broken world.
