La chanson de la vidéo musicale « Notre Maison Commune » a été composée et interprétée par les Sœurs de la Charité de Jésus du Japon. Yuka Arita RSCJ a réalisé cette vidéo de cinq minutes en utilisant des photos de sa propre collection. Les voix sont principalement en japonais, mais la vidéo est sous-titrée en anglais pour transmettre le sens des paroles et l'appel à l'unité dans un monde de conflit.
"Nuestra casa común" fue compuesta y cantada por las Hermanas de la Caridad en Japón y Yuka Arita RSCJ ha creado un video de cinco minutos utilizando fotos tomadas de su colección personal. La canción es principalmente en japonés, pero el video tiene subtítulos en inglés que expresan el significado de la canción y su llamada a la unidad en un mundo en conflicto.
“Our Common Home” was composed and sung by the Caritas Sisters in Japan. Yuka Arita RSCJ created the five-minute video using photographs taken from her own collection. The song is mostly in Japanese, but the video has English subtitles that convey the meaning of the song and its call for unity in a conflicted world.
A day after Typhoon Ulysses wreaked havoc on many places in the Philippines, I went to one of the areas that was seriously affected by the flood and where a number of the SMSF (St. Madeleine Sophie Foundation) families live. The mothers met me with a surprised smile and showed me the extent of the damage of the flood waters. All their belongings were taken out of their small houses to be washed; all clothes were soaked in mud; the children were tired and sleepy for they stayed awake the whole night of the typhoon. There was no electricity and no running water!
"The call to care for our common home, which is replete with diverse beauty, holds unprecedented urgency. Driven by an ethic of caring about the future of our planet we, along with so many others responding to this call, seek creative and effective ways to heed this urgency.
