Cultural cart (Carrito Cultural)

Objective

To develop children’s social, artistic and physical skills.

Activities

To provide a recreational and cultural space in Antofagasta with story telling, art and sport workshops. Workshops run every Saturday from March to December as follows:

  • 9.30 am. Some volunteers walk out to get children to come to the workshop while other volunteers prepare material and the space for the workshop morning.

Fraternal Support (Ayuda Fraterna)

Objective

To respond to some of the economic needs of the members of a Christian community or the neighbourhood population of Antofagastan.

Activities

  • Weekly meeting of the group members

  • Collection of non-perishable food among the group members

  • Fundraising from other groups

  • Visits and surveys to families in need

  • Delivery of non-perishable food to families in need

Urban Camps, Clara Estrella district, Santiago (Colonias Urbanas)

Objective 

Increase safe leisure time for vulnerable children of the neighbourhood of Clara Estrella (Santa Olga) during their summer and winter half term.

Activities 

Half-term time managed around the development of a specific chosen issue in leisure and learning.  

  • Training of camp young leaders (JOSAC – Youth of the Sacred Heart) around a specific chosen issue (e.g. water, waste)

Women's Association Talita Kum - Women/Girl stand up (Agrupación de Mujeres Talita Kum | Mujer-Niña levántate)

Objective

To promote the development of vulnerable women's self-esteem and autonomy with transformative activities that foster creativity and courage. 

Activities

  • Weekly workshops (Tuesday afternoon) where women are encouraged to reflect on issues of personal development.

  • Lessons of biodance.

  • Reading of biblical texts from a gender perspective.

In the Sacred Heart School of Lo Espejo (Santa Olga), violence was a daily matter among students that could not manage conflict resolution with dialogue, peacefully and respectfully.

Welcome to Chile project (Proyecto Bienvenido/a a Chile)

Background

Chinese migrant workers are sometimes trapped in abusive relationships with their employers, in particular in mines, restaurants and shops. Translators are needed, especially translators that have no relationship with the employers. When there are trials between Chinese workers and their employers, judges look for "neutral" translators.

Complementary Medicine Training (Capacitación en medicina complementaria)

Objective

To provide knowledge and skill on complementary medicine to improve people's quality of life.

Accompaniment to the Pastoral Care of Sexual Diversity (Acompañamiento a la Pastoral de la Diversidad Sexual - PADIS+

Objective

  • To build up, as Jesus Christ did, a Christian, fraternal, diverse and open community, where all feel welcome and respected as they are. 

  • To celebrate the joy of Christ in the homosexual reality. 

  • To give evidence on the joy of bringing together faith and homosexuality, and welcome those seeking for a church experience from its sexual diversity to foster LGBT integration, in particular for those who are most vulnerable in the Church.

Las Michaicas, Michaihue, Concepción

Objective

To provide a space for youth seeking a deeper meaning in their life through contact with and service to the most vulnerable people. To promote life in community for youth and so discover the will of God in their lives.

Activities

Comunity Life:  youth share their experience with each other in community meetings. An RSCJ leads the meetings.

Objective

To offer a space for after-school tutoring and the development of personal skills for children of Michaihue (city of Concepcion).

Activities

Training for instructors; after-school tutoring workshops; sport and arts activities; celebration of the Day of the Child; Celebrations of local feasts; Educational Path; Visits to children’s home and schools.
