Poverty stimulation for 6th graders in collaboration with the Community Action Agency of St Louis.

Understanding the day-to-day reality of poverty is important for everyone involved in fighting poverty - from policymakers to service providers.  Missouri’s COMMUNITY ACTION POVERTY SIMULATION (CAPS) is a unique tool that helps people begin to understand what life is like with a shortage of money and an abundance of stress.

Anne Montgomery House

Background

Intentional community is a planned residential community design to have a high degree of social cohesion and teamwork.

The house is named for Sr. Anne Montgomery, RSCJ, a dedicated peacemaker who lived her Sacred Heart spirituality primarily through volunteer work with two groups: Christian Peacemaker Teams bringing peace to war-torn regions worldwide, and the Plowshares Movement, working for nuclear disarmament through nonviolent protest

St Joseph's Refugee Outreach Committee

Sponsorship, welcome and outreach to help support and respond to the needs of refugees in the St Joseph community.  Promote in the community a spirit of openness and welcoming an understanding and celebration of differences and an awareness of refugee issues in the world.

St Louis Interfaith Committee on Latin America (ICLA)

Background

Non profit organisation with mission to accompany the people of Latin America in their struggle for human rights and social justice through education and advocacy in the US.

Advocate and do direct action, provide material aid and accompaniment of the poor and marginalized of Latin America, and encourage immersion experiences.

Educate and advocate in the US for a change in US policies which affect immigration, economic justice, environmental justice, health, education and militarization.
