Overview

Background

Among the goals and criteria that articulate the essence of the Sacred Heart school in the United States Goal Three matches JPIC commitment: Commitment to educate to a social awareness which impels to action.

  • The school educates to a critical consciousness that leads its total community to analyze and reflect on the values of society and to act for justice.
  • The school offers all its members opportunities for direct service and advocacy and instills a life-long commitment to service.
  • The school is linked in a reciprocal manner with ministries among people who are poor, marginalized and suffering from injustice.
  • In our multicultural world, the school prepares and inspires students to be active, informed, and responsible citizens locally, nationally, and globally.
  • The school teaches respect for creation and prepares students to be stewards of the earth's resources.

Activities

For 12 wednesdays throughout the school year, the entire Stone Ridge upper school shares in an assembly rooted in Catholic Social Teaching, then goes out and does service then comes back for small groups of shared prayer and reflection. We partner with service organisations throughout the DC metropolitan area.

Entre los objetivos y criterios que articulan la esencia los colegio del Sagrado Corazón en los Estados Unidos, el objetivo tres coincide con el compromiso JPIC: Compromiso de educar para una conciencia social que impulse a la acción.

  • El colegio educa para una conciencia crítica que lleva a toda su comunidad a analizar y reflexionar sobre los valores de la sociedad y a actuar por la justicia.
  • El colegio propone a todos sus miembros oportunidades para que se ofrezcan en actividades de servicio comunitario y de abogacía, e inculca un compromiso de servicio comunitario para toda la vida.
  • El colegio está vinculada de manera recíproca con ministerios entre personas pobres, marginadas y que sufren la injusticia.
  • En nuestro mundo multicultural, la escuela prepara e inspira al alumnado para que sean ciudadanos activos, informados y responsables a nivel local, nacional y mundial.
  • El colegio enseña a respetar la creación y prepara al alumnado para que sean administradores de los recursos de la tierra.

Las actividades

Durante 12 miércoles a lo largo del año escolar, toda la escuela superior de Stone Ridge comparte una asamblea arraigada en la Doctrina Social Católica, luego sale y realiza un servicio y después regresa para compartir en pequeños grupos la oración y la reflexión. Nos asociamos con organizaciones de servicio de toda el área metropolitana de DC.
