Overview

Background

Among the goals and criteria that articulate the essence of the Sacred Heart school in the United States and Canada, Goal Three matches JPIC commitment: Commitment to educate to a social awarness which impels to action.

  • The school educates to a critical consciousness that leads its total community to analyze and reflect on the values of society and to act for justice.
  • The school offers all its members opportunities for direct service and advocacy and instills a life-long commitment to service.
  • The school is linked in a reciprocal manner with ministries among people who are poor, marginalized and suffering from injustice.
  • In our multicultural world, the school prepares and inspires students to be active, informed, and responsible citizens locally, nationally, and globally.
  • The school teaches respect for creation and prepares students to be stewards of the earth's resources.

Activities

Social Justice and Community Service Program benefits non-profit organisations or charities of the Greater Montreal area through 40 hours of volunteer service on the part of 9th and 10th grade students. We also participate in Youth Philanthropic Initiative.

El contexto

Entre los objetivos y criterios que articulan la esencia del colegio del Sagrado Corazón en los Estados Unidos, el objetivo tres coincide con el compromiso JPIC: Compromiso de educar para una conciencia social que impulse a la acción.

  • El colegio educa para una conciencia crítica que lleva a toda su comunidad a analizar y reflexionar sobre los valores de la sociedad y a actuar por la justicia.
  • El colegio propone a todos sus miembros oportunidades para que se ofrezcan en actividades de servicio comunitario y de abogacía, e inculca un compromiso de servicio comunitario para la comunidad para toda la vida.
  • El colegio está vinculada de manera recíproca con ministerios entre personas pobres, marginadas y que sufren la injusticia.
  • En nuestro mundo multicultural, la escuela prepara e inspira al alumnado para que sean ciudadanos activos, informados y responsables a nivel local, nacional y mundial.
  • El colegio enseña a respetar la creación y prepara al alumnado para que sean administradores de los recursos de la tierra.

Las actividades

El Programa de Justicia Social y Servicio Comunitario beneficia a organizaciones sin ánimo de lucro o benéficas del área del Gran Montreal a través de 40 horas de servicio de voluntariado por parte de los estudiantes de 9º y 10º grado. También participamos en la Iniciativa Filantrópica Juvenil.
