Overview

Objective

The overall objective is to teach the pupils of the Sacred Heart School of Kalungu to take care of each other and care for the life of everything growing on the compound, to instill in them the value of the works of mercy.

The specific objective is to improve local environmental conditions.

Activities 

    • Clean environment: litter to be thrown in bins. They have had a special ceremony of blessing for the litter-bins. Students on day trips to Kalungu for rubbish street cleaning.
    • Clean air: prevent students burning mowing grass, tree planting (indireclty: fruit harvest and cultivation technics), vegetable garden (indirectly: self-sustainability of rscj)
    • Soil fertility and health: use mowing grass for compost, mulching.
    • Water management: harvest rain water from the gutters for garden use, laundry and domestic cooking.

 

 

El objetivo

El objetivo general es enseñar al alumnado del colegio del Sagrado Corazón de Kalungu a cuidarse entre ellos y a cuidar la vida de todo lo que crece en el recinto, para inculcarles el valor de las obras de misericordia.

El objetivo específico es mejorar las condiciones medioambientales locales.

Las actividades

  • Limpieza del entorno: la basura se tira en las papeleras. Han tenido una ceremonia especial de bendición de las papeleras. El alumnado realiza excursiones de un día a Kalungu para limpiar las calles de la basura.
  • Aire limpio: evitar que el alumnado queme la hierba cortada, plantación de árboles (indirectamente: técnicas de cultivo y recogida de fruta), huerto (indirectamente: autosostenibilidad de las rscj)
  • Fertilidad y salud del suelo: utilizar la hierba cortada para hacer compost, acolchado.
  • Gestión del agua: recoger aguas pluviales de los canalones para regar el huerto, la lavandería y la cocina doméstica.
