In July 2026, representatives of the Society of the Sacred Heart participated in global advocacy efforts in New York during the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) and a subsequent JCOR Lab, contributing the Society’s perspectives to important conversations on sustainable development, social justice, and the shared responsibility to build a more just and sustainable world.

Representing the Society as panelists at an event held during the High-Level Political Forum were Yolanda Jiménez (JPIC Assistant) and Nicole Quintero (Sacred Heart at the UN Intern), who shared their insights and experiences as part of the global conversation surrounding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Their participation provided an opportunity for the Society to bring its mission and advocacy work into dialogue with other organizations and stakeholders working toward sustainable development.

The Society was also represented at a JCOR Lab following the High-Level Political Forum, where Margaret Mwarili RSCJ presented on behalf of the Society of the Sacred Heart. The JCOR Lab provided another space for reflection and exchange following the Forum, connecting the experiences and insights from the HLPF with the ongoing advocacy work of faith-based and religious organizations at the United Nations.

These engagements reflect the Society of the Sacred Heart’s continued commitment to bringing its mission to international spaces and contributing to global efforts that promote human dignity, justice, peace, and sustainable development. Through participation in the United Nations community and collaboration with other organizations, the Society continues to make its voice heard in support of communities and causes that are at the heart of its mission.
