The project responded to the new education reform where junior secondary schools be domiciliated in primary schools. The construction of a science laboratory was necessary to meet the requirements and continue to offer education services to the children and youth of the Kibra slum at the Laini Saba school.
Following the construction of the science laboratory, the Ministry of Education has approved the Laini Saba primary school to offer Junior secondary school education. It has given parents moral and confidence to enrol their children at the school for quality education. The new infrastructure has also provided supplementary space to absorb more students from the nearby marginalised slum.
