On September 24, 2024, the Pastoral Coordinators of the Sofía Barat Educational Foundation of Spain met.
At this first meeting of the new academic year, we felt the urgency to plan, to share our concerns and searches, but, above all, we wanted to deepen our understanding of how to live JPIC as educators of the Sacred Heart.
It was extremely fortunate that we had Joy Luz rscj present and she awakened passion, commitment, hope and inspiration in all of us. She invited us to be artisans of hope in a blessed and broken world. She reminded us of the words of Clare Pratt rscj: ‘To educate is, in itself, an act of justice’ (inspired by the 1976 General Chapter).
Fully aware that our commitment to JPIC springs from compassion, is lived through relationship and is directed towards transformation, we want to be ambassadors of JPIC, educators who actively support and accompany students in the work of building a society based on equitable, inclusive, non-violent relationships. We want to form people involved in the care of life, of all life, but especially of those who are in vulnerable situations.
Thank you, Joy! Thank you for your passion, for your clarity. You have filled us with hope and made us feel we are part of a NETWORK. We are continuing to work together in promoting JPIC.

The whole team of FESB planted a laurel tree, and all the directors (school heads) of the 14 Sacred Heart schools in Spain planted a madroño tree.
