Background

The Andean municipality of Santa Leticia has suffered for many years from the impact of the armed conflict and the neglect of the current leaders of the nation. Families have suffered from it, causing human losses, people displacements and families without the possibility of resources (education, health, own housing and few possibilities of work).

Objective

To improve the living conditions of the Santa Leticia inhabitants by providing professional training and work opportunities focused on team work.

Vivre le handicap dans la dignité (Por una vida digna en la discapacidad)

Background

The Ministry of Social Protection provides minimum benefits for disabled persons over 18 years of age. This does not include minors.

Objective

To improve the life conditions of children with mental and/or physical disabilities, and their families, in Pasto (southern Colombia)

Programme Luciana

Background

The Luciana Programme attends to children and youth with disabilities such as: low hearing and vision, cerebral palsy, Downs syndrome, epilepsy, etc. Their families feel lonely and unprepared to deal with their particular situation. The disabled children are often not enrolled in any school system, preventing them from any progress or social life.

The families are enrolled in the national health system but receive very little benefits.

La maison propre (Hogar Limpio)

Background

Santa Leticia is a region rich in flora and fauna. Its inhabitants lack awareness about the consequences their poor management of waste disposal has on their landscape, which is mirrored in the polluted waters of the nearby creeks. 

Objectives

To raise awareness and train the families of Santa Leticia in the proper management of waste collection, separation and storage, in order to preserve a healthy environment in the area. Indirectly, the project enhance community work.
