General Objective
To contribute to the promotion of respect towards the rights of migrants in Tetouan (Morocco).
Specific Objectives
1. To accompany the migrants that arrive to the project in their migration process. Individual attention makes it possible to work more integrally with each of them, to understand each one’s economic and personal needs.
2. To improve support to migrants and reduce the level of risk of exclusion of the most vulnerable groups.
3. To strengthen the reception capacity of and the support to migrants and increase public awareness of the migrants’ rights.
Activities
1. Direct assistance
o To identify and understand the needs of migrants and their main areas of vulnerability. Active listening is a necessary means.
o To respond to daily needs: accommodation needs (rent), health (payment of medical prescriptions), food kits, blankets, etc.
o Other less common needs we have dealt with: education, training.
o To help with administrative matters: To provide assistance for transport to get to their embassy in Rabat for consulate cards, passport requests and birth certificate. Register at the civil registry; the registry is the most basic requirement for people to establish their legal identity and formalise their family ties. Trek Amal supports any integration process, such as kindergarten, schools and non-formal education.
2. Empower some beneficiaries of the Delegation of Migrant (DDM) of the Diocese of Tetuan trying to convert their personal skills into activities generating income, thus achieving their autonomy with the possibility of improving their living conditions. In some cases, these are individual processes. Provide support for material needed for their activities.
3. Language teaching: Spanish lessons
4. Awareness raising for migrants on legal and health matters
