Background

Often Kingergartens (Lower and Upper Kindergartens) in the region do not meet the education standards required by the ICSE and CBSE-certified schools the children will move to, finding it difficult to cope with studies

Objective

The Prerana Nursery in Pune aims to give a values-based education:

focused on the all round education of each child

in an atmosphere of love and care

bonding families from different religions, cultures and social strata

build a vibrant, responsible, healthy and pollution-free society/India

Activities :

Regular classes for the children in four age groups for 3 hours each day:

to acquire basic knowledge of language and math skills,
to develop speech and motor skills, art and craft, music and movement,
outdoor games, physical exercise and yoga and simple athletics,
parents' orientations, regular meetings and on-going formation

Examples of specific activities

The Diwali celebration gathering children, parents and staff: the feast sweets, ladoos, chakli and karanji, are prepared by the parent representatives. Keeping in mind the environment and the safety of the children as the prime focus, they arrange for noiseless crackers. Manual activities include: making diyas, lanterns, and greeting cards
During the 2020-2022 Covid pandemic, offline classes were resumed the soonest, as in June 2021, setting the nursery as one of the first to start back in presence classes. Resuming classes followed the request of (Lower and Upper Kindergarten) parents who had seen their children social skills deteriorating.
