Protection of the Environment, Bambamarca, Cajamarca

Background

Bambamarca is in one of the poorest and most marginalised provinces in the Department of Cajamarca. Bambamarca is a district with a high rate of malnutrition, illiteracy and environmental pollution as a result of mining.

Objective:

To protect the environment

Activities:

• protest marches against mining policies that consume and pollute the water
• circles of reflection
• express commitment by environmental parades
• participation in environmental activities organised by civil society

Outcomes:

- critical awareness for students and local population of care for the water and environment
