
Background
The Andean municipality of Santa Leticia has suffered for many years from the impact of the armed conflict and the neglect of the current leaders of the nation. Families have suffered from it, causing human losses, people displacements and families without the possibility of resources (education, health, own housing and few possibilities of work).
Objective
To improve the living conditions of the Santa Leticia inhabitants by providing professional training and work opportunities focused on team work.
Activities
- Training in fish farming
- Construction of fish tanks
- Construction of water channels to feed fish tanks or fish farming
Outcomes
- 20 families involved in fish farming
- Project beneficiaries have learnt to work as a team tolerance, sharing of skills, patience, leadership and creativity.
- The activities have boosted communication and relationships, leading to a better knowing of each other and each family.
- They have learnt to manage responsibilities
- Food security has improved in the village
- Production and commercialisation of rainbow trout
Extra comments :
This project is part of a macro project, the Farm association of agriculture and livestock that started off in 2012 (Proyecto Asociativo Granja Agropecuaria). This macro project has been mainly driven by women.
