Background 

Talitha Kum Korea started in 2014.

Korea Catholic Sisters Against Human Trafficking (KCSAHT) is a collaborative, faith-based national network that offers education, supports access to survivor services, and engages in advocacy in an effort to eradicate modern-day slavery. As a member of Talitha Kum International, we are connected to a global network of women religious working to end human trafficking.

The House of Magdalena started in 1985, a shelter for sex workers in Seoul. It is run by three religious.  

Objective

Increase awareness in human anti-trafficking

Activities

  • Human anti-trafficking campaign
    • Running itinerant awareness campaigns, moving locations every year. One of them is Daehak-ro, a place where cultural venues concentrate, and where many teenagers and young people can be met. 
    • Attend KCSAHT monthly meeting/Asia monthly webinar.  
    • Attend LGBTI lectures
  • Support to House of Magdalena, a women’s shelter 
    • The House of Magdalena gives support to sex workers in Seoul. The Society of the Sacred Heart has provided support in different ways, one of them has been having two RSCJs on field experience at the House of Magdalena.
