Background
There is evidence that, in the marginalised area of the southwest of the municipality of Zapopan, Jalisco, women live in a context of domestic violence. This situation leads to insecurity and an increase in symptoms of depression and anxiety in these women.
Objective
To provide tools to women victims of domestic violence to strengthen their basic security, their ability to socialise in an optimal way and to establish fraternal and non-violent relationships in order to improve their self-esteem and their rights as women.
Activities
Workshops on non-violent communication, called compassionate communication because it is based on the theory of compassion.
- The group of direct beneficiaries receives the compassionate communication workshop. There are 45 people per group.
- The workshop activities are practical activities, so what is learned is implemented on the spot.
- The compassionate communication workshop consists of two blocks, each block lasts approximately 3 or 4 hours (depending on the beneficiary group). The workshops take place over 1 or 2 days, in intensive sessions. There are 2 to 3 workshops per year.
- The information received in the workshop is shared in working teams of 5-7 persons.
