Activities

Awareness raising about the migrant issue at Stuartholme School of the Sacred Heart, Brisbane.

  • Yeronga State School: A group of students and teachers go to this school once a week to help with homework for refugee children. 

  • Harmony Day: Year 11 welcome students from Yeronga and Milperra (a State School where refugees go in the first instance to learn English) for a day of activities at Stuartholme.

  • Friends in Faith: Friends in Faith involves inviting students from Yeronga SHS to participate in an interfaith retreat day with Stuartholme Year 10 students. It asks them to use their own experiences of religion and research to complete activities and projects in the day.

Increase educational opportunities of migrants

  • Stuartholme School has has offered a two year scholarship for a refugee student recommended to the School by Yeronga State School. This student hopes to be able to attend University but currently will be excluded by her visa status.

Increase migrants' employment opportunities

  • The school employs a refugee on a part time basis.
