Being Artisans of Hope
Prize Irena Sendlerowa "For fixing the world" for over 15 years has been in the hands of teachers who teach and educate in the spirit of dialogue, tolerance and respect for others, inspire to act in accordance with these principles and play an active role in their school and local community.
The mission of the award is to support teachers who, in their work with young people, try not only to pass on knowledge, but also to shape attitudes of openness, respect for others, solidarity, and active commitment to these values. (Source: uczotwartosci.ceo.org.pl)
Violetta Zając rscj, who was nominated for this award, shares a message to inspire us in being Artisans of Hope:
"From the Sacred Heart document, Being of Artisans of Hope, "We are convinced more than ever that this work for structural and systemic change will be rendered ineffective if we do not collaborate with one other as well as with groups that share the same vision and hope for justice, peace, and integrity of creation. The call to be artisans of hope is, in itself, a call to collaboration and collective action that promotes human dignity and weaves a new social fabric.”
This is really happening thanks to the dedicated people of the Centre for Civic Education, the staff and young people of the SOS Youth Socio-therapy Centre No. 1 where I have worked for 22 years, and many other teachers, volunteers, activists, nuns. You are all wonderful!"
