Objective

To improve relationships among elderly people and self-care.

Activities

Provide a space for socialisation and recreation for elderly people.

  • Bi-weekly encounters of 3 hours each in partnerships with different social networks (church or social organisations – e.g. Cuaresma Fraternidad, RSCJ, volunteers’ associations, Antofagasta municipality). Actions include:

    • Walking along the beach,

    • Food sharing,

    • Purchase and distribution of incontinence pads,

    • Board games playing

    • Elderly-addressed workshops: kinesiotherapy, occupational therapist, art therapist (use of EVA rubber, cardboard)

Outcomes

  • Communication improved among the group attendants

  • Reduced expenses for purchase of incontinence pads

  • Provided food  

  • Feeling less loneliness
