Objectives

  • To offer agents of transformation the opportunity to have an experience with marginalised people. 
  • To offer agents of transformation a multicultural experience. 
  • To offer an itinerary for the search and accompaniment of young people for their project of life.
  • To participate in projects of education from which to collaborate in the construction of a more just and supportive world, in the style of Jesus.
  • (indirectly) To give support to people who are most disadvantaged.  

Activities

  • Training and preparation before going (workshops, etc.)
  • Request medical check to the volunteer
  • International experience
  • Support social/humanitarian activities
  • Support in language teaching 
  • Sharing the volunteer experience upon return

Identify the host comunity/project

  • Take into consideration the needs of the reality where the community is, of the project and its expectations and possibilities (gifts, skills, motivations, desires...).
  • Arrangements between the community and the volunteer on the participation in community life, re-reading from the faith, evaluation times, etc.
  • Arrange dialogue between the volunteer and the community, ask a sister to accompany the volunteer during her experience.

Collaborating with other provinces

  • A RSCJ will accompany the volunteer during a preparation period.
  • The motivation, concerns, desires and wishes will be considered in depth.
  • The accompanying RSCJ will coordinate with the RSCJ in charge of the IVP in the host province, the place where the volunteer will be sent.
  • The RSCJ referring to the volunteer will coordinate with the Province that is going to receive the volunteer.

Outcomes

  • To live a volunteer experience in a Society project
  • Empathy towards marginalised people.
  • Knowledge of the spirituality, charism and style of life of the Society following Jesus.
  • The ARU volunteer programme collaborated with the MEX province in 2014 when an Argentinina young women spent 6 months volunteering in the Iyolosiwa Popular Education project (Ayutla).
