Background

Migration is a structural reality in Spain and in particular in big cities such as Barcelona. Although the number of women migrant is less than men’s, their often isolated situation, is to be carefully taken into consideration.

Objectvie

To ease the daily life of migrant women in Barcelona.

  • (Homemake) Spanish lessons
    • To two Moroccan women (siblings)
    • To one Pakistani women
  • Literacy lessons
    • To the two Moroccan women (siblings)

Results

The Spanish lesson beneficiaries feel less intimidation when addressing civil servants or their daily encounters. They have acquired familiarity with the local language and can handle basic situations by themselves.

They are aware of social services and can request support.

They feel welcome and hope is slightly coming back to their life.
