Background
Italy has been in the spotlight with the Mediterranean migrant crisis for the last two decades. Boat people have been landing on the Mediterranean Italian island of Lampedusa since the early years of 2000 and crossings have since then increased constantly. Italy is yet, for many migrants, a transit country. In 2018, the Rifugio Fraternità Massi, a reception center, opened its doors in Oulx (Val di Susa, North-West Italy) to welcome migrants on their way from Italy to northern European countries. Migrants are accommodate for 1-2 days; it is a temporary landing place for those who need a stop in their journey.

To mitigate the journey of migrants going through Italy to northern European countries
Activities
The Rifugio Fraternità Massi provides a main meal, shower facilities, a bed and breakfast. In June 2023, with the increase of migrant numbers and the high temperatures, drinking water was increasingly in demand. The Rifugio called to charities to supply them empty plastic bottle to be filled in with drinking water. The RSCJ Avigliana community responded to the call. The catering that provides them meals includes plastic bottles. RSCJ gather their empty bottles and have them arrive to the Rifugio Fraternità Massi with their prayers.
Results
Migrants on their way to northern European countries can carry drinking water with them.
