Background
As a result of the economic crisis caused by the pandemic, the vulnerable financial situation of the school's family has been further affected. Many have considered withdrawing their children from the school because they could not afford the fees or have asked for further discounts. The school budget was shrinking and affecting the quality education the school is appreciated for.
Activities
The project covered enrolment fees that could not be paid by families that suffered the economic effects of pandemic. Families that applied for this support went through interviews and home visits and a follow up throughout the year. The project supported the school in purchase of IT equipment (laptop, digital whiteboard) and software (microbits).
Results
The school did not suffer any enrolment decrease. With the distribution of technology, the school kept up with the national Ceibal program (one laptop per child), and hence promoted knowledge and new IT skills (micobits) and eventually generated social equity.
