Background
Since 1956, Granja Hogar focuses on children and young people of Chihuahua living in conditions of extreme poverty, being at risk of social marginalisation, living in disintegrated families, victims of violence and abandonment. Most of them are of Rarámuri origine.
The Rarámuri indigenous group, inhabitants of the sierra Tarahumara (mountain), migrate to the city of Chihuahua for a better life yet in the urban environment their lives turn to be even more extreme (language barrier, cultural chock, accommodation in unofficial settlements without energy and safe water, health hazards, lack of basic nutrition, unemployment).
Children and young people that enter Caja Hogar fall under the following physical conditions: low height and weight from malnutrition, prone to disease from lack of hygiene; no school enrolment, poor school achievement, learning problems.

To provide a home to marginalised children and young children. Home as accommodation, education and healthy habits.
